GT Identification

National Standardized Testing

We utilize the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT) for gifted identification.  Students must score in the top 3% to qualify for the gifted program through testing.  Testing is completed online and can be scheduled anytime throughout the school year.  Parents will receive a welcome package once enrolled in Oklahoma Virtual Charter Academy or Insight School of Oklahoma.  Only parents can sign a student up for testing because parent approval is required.   Testing is open to students in K -12th grades.

Please note that if your student has been identified as gifted in another school, that this identification follows him/her to OVCA and your student will be placed in the gifted program after receiving documentation from your former school district and with parent approval.   Please contact Holly Wyers to get this added to your student’s record.  Previously identified gifted students do not need to test again.

Students that do not qualify for the program with testing alone can be considered under the following categories: academics, creative thinking, leadership, dance, drama, music, or art. Data will be collected and analyzed by the local advisory committee using a multi-criteria matrix to determine placement.

Nominations by Parents, Teachers, Or Other

Nominations to the gifted program can be made throughout the year. Please contact the Gifted and Talented Resource Coordinator, Holly Wyers, if you miss the regularly scheduled assessment and would like to have your student evaluated for inclusion in the GT program.
